It’s Time for the Cablecast Lottery!!!
Posted January 15th, 2008 by vikkid in Front Page, News, Production, What's on TVThe lottery for the new season is on Saturday, February 2 from noon to 4pm in the Access Tucson conference room.
The lottery is designed to give all members an equal chance at a cablecast slot of their choice. The lottery system allows for new programming by both existing and new members to become part of the line-up. The lottery provides fairness in scheduling. It is content-neutral and given the increasing demand on a fixed supply of cablecast time, it gives everyone an equal chance.
The parameters and rules from the last lottery remain the same as we continue to have one digital channel and two analog channels. Cox Communications has indicated that no major changes are expected to happen during our next programming season (March 2 to September 6, 2008). However, this is not a guarantee. Sometime before December 2009, Access Tucson will transition to 2 digital channels, 1 analog channel and up to 2,000 hours of video-on-demand.
Producers are strongly encouraged to make their own promos to cablecast on the channels to alert viewers of their cablecast times. Access Tucson is providing some production slots and assistance through the PromoDaze service. If you have any questions regarding PromoDaze production preparation, please contact a facilitator. Sign up for a PromoDaze slot at the Front Desk.
Please review the pdf files below regarding the lottery before you fill out your lottery application. Applications are due Wednesday, January 30th by 9pm.
