June Closure – deadline to submit programming is May 15
Posted May 5th, 2009 by vikkid in Front Page, NewsDear Producers:
As mentioned during the last lottery, Access Tucson will close it’s facility for the month of June and furlough all employees without pay for that month in order to deal with budget cuts already taken this year. However, programming on the channels will continue through master control automation.
Since the Access Tucson closure will prohibit the intake and processing of programs for June, we are asking that producers turn in all their programs for cablecast in June by May 15. Master control operators will be using the last two weeks of May to process the programs and pre-schedule the channels for June. The cablecast rule that producers must turn in a new episode at least every four weeks will be suspended for June.
The deadline for tape producers (local and import) to submit programming for June is May 15. Producers may submit up to four programs for June.
Live producers only may submit their last live show of May on the day it was live between the dates of Friday, May 15 and Thursday, May 28. So if you have a live show between these dates, you can still turn it in to play in June.
Since Access Tucson is celebrating its 25th year, you may want to consider turning in “best of” or “the most popular” episodes of your series. If you do decide to turn in older episodes for replay in June, please be sure to use a cablecast calendar so staff knows which episode you want to play when.
The Access Tucson facility intends to open again on Wednesday, July 1. The week in July that Access Tucson annually closes for inventory and facility upgrades is reduced to two days this year, Monday, July 13 and our normal closure day of Tuesday, July 14.
Please note that next lottery will most likely be scheduled for Saturday, July 25 for the new season that starts on Sunday, September 6. Watch for your lottery packet in the mail after July 5.
Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me. And if you haven’t sent a letter of support for Access Tucson to the Mayor and Council mcweb@tucsonaz.gov, please do so as soon as possible so Access Tucson is assured to reopen July 1, 2009.
Sincerely,
Vikki Dempsey
