Access Tucson on the Cusp!

Posted December 24th, 2009 by vikkid in Front Page, News

Access Tucson is on the cusp of significant change and growth. Over the last few years, continued budget cuts from the City of Tucson and the recent economic downturn has put us in the mode of trying to maintain status quo but with less. However with your help, we can move forward on a few new exciting projects to serve our community better: the formation of a Community Media Center, the creation of a website that would serve as a one-stop source for information on Tucson’s non-profit community, the start of a youth media after-school program and the ability to view Access Tucson programs via Video On-Demand. But remember, you are critical to this vision so please give today like Frankie, Richard and Randy did.

Frankie

Frankie M. McDemmons is a loyal 24/7 Access Tucson viewer. In fact, the reason she subscribes to Cox Communications cable and not satellite is because the Access Tucson channels are only on cable. Frankie donates what she can so Access Tucson programming continues to cablecast. Her favorite program is Local Matters and her favorite color is purple.

Local filmmaker Richard Farmer donated this year to honor the memory and incredible spirit of Keith Smith, a valued Access Tucson board member, producer and volunteer who was changing people’s lives through his media work on families in recovery from substance abuse or domestic violence.

J. Randall Harris, local artist and a 25-year supporter of Access Tucson gives specifically to Access Tucson to ensure that Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman continues to cablecast on our channels (M-F at 6am, 5pm and 11pm on Access Tucson channel 74/99). He makes his donation to Access Tucson through United Way.

By using United Way, you can make a one-time donation or you can conveniently have your donation spread out over a year and taken directly from your paycheck. it’s so easy and you are giving without feeling a big hit on your bank account.
